About your bike tour
Beginning from his birth town Salzburg we visit many places, where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart made stops during his journeys. The route leads us across the Chiemsee to the Inn valley. From there we cycle through the Northern Tyrol and the so called "small German corner" back to the Mozart town. The route leads us partly through level, but also through hilly terrains. Between the Inn valley and the town Salzburg we have to master a few gradients, but we can also enjoy nice descents. Most of the time we ride on bike paths and on side streets with not so much traffic, which are mostly asphalted. A few short sections (max. 1-2 km) have to be cycled on moderate used streets.

Travel destinations on the map
— Day 1: Salzburg (Salzburg)
Individual arrival in the Mozart town and overnight.
64 km Day 2: Chiemsee (Bavaria)
Our first stage leads us on the Tauern bike path along the river Salzach to Oberndorf (Silent Night Chapel). After passing the worth seeing old town of Laufen on the other bank of the Salzach we cycle to the warmest lake of Upper Bavaria, the Waginger See. Via Nussdorf we reach the Chiemsee. Overnight in Chieming/surroundings or in exceptional cases in Traunstein.
65 km Day 3: Wasserburg am Inn (Bavaria)
We cycle from Chieming/surroundings via Seebruck to Seeon. The monastery of Seeon Mozart visited several times and he also composed there. From Seeon we cycle back to the Chiemsee, to Breitbrunn and via Amerang to Wasserburg, where the famous artist liked to stop when he travelled. All of us that spent the night in Traunstein cycle right away along the Chiemsee to Gstadt and continue via Breitbrunn and Amerang to Wasserburg
67 km Day 4: Kufstein (Tyrol)
The Inn will accompany us all the day. Almost without effort we can enjoy our way via Rosenheim to Kufstein, the "pearl of Tyrol".
45 km Day 5: Sankt Johann in Tirol (Tyrol)
This morning the Inn accompanies us once more for the first kilometres till Ebbs where we ride into the little bit hilly "Kaiserwinkl" of Tyrol. We pass the village Walchsee and cycle via Waidach and Kössen through the imposing mountain landscape of Tyrol to Kirchdorf or St. Johann in Tirol.
48 km Day 6: Bad Reichenhall (Bavaria)
Today we cycle to Waidring and Lofer, two villages where Mozart stopped when he travelled towards the South. From Lofer we ride along the river Saalach on a terribly romantic cycleway via Unken to Bad Reichenhall. Mozart visited this well-known health resort at his last stay in Salzburg in 1780.
23 km Day 7: Berchtesgaden (Bavaria)
Today we only cycle a very short way to the world-famous spa Berchtesgaden. We can relax in a thermal bath. Those who want to cycle more in this impressing landscape we recommend to make an excursion to the nearby lake Königssee.
28 km Day 8: Salzburg (Salzburg)
Soon we will arrive at our final-point of the tour Salzburg. Therefore we have enough time to make an enlarged individual sightseeing tour in the Mozart town. We should see Mozart`s birth place, the reopened place of his residence, the fortress, Hellbrunn palace, Mirabell palace and so on. We will get our luggage at 6 p.m. at the latest in Salzburg. Individual departure or additional nights. We recommend to book additional nights in Salzburg to visit the city and its beautiful surroundings (Trumer Seen, St. Gilgen the Mozart town at the Wolfgangsee,..).
