Talk about fun - cycling through beautiful Bavaria and sampling some of the best beers in the the world!

This independent bike tour takes us through an area of Franconia where there's a brewery every kilometer, the highest concentration of breweries anywhere in the world. Sample delicious brews in the beautiful beer gardens and taste the local favorites at your own pace.

And after a good day's ride, you'll enjoy fresh beers and local Bavarian cuisine in the medieval town squares of the lively cities of Rothenburg, Nuremberg and Bamberg.

— Day 1: Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Bavaria)

The tour starts in the Rothenburg, a stunning medieval city with its 42 towers and old city wall still in place. Your bikes are waiting for you at your hotel and you're free to roam the town and sample some of Rothenburg's local beers, including the specialty grain beer brewed at the Brauhaus Rothenburg.

55 km Day 2: Ansbach (Bavaria)

We cycle to the source of the Altmuehl River to the Colmberg Castle, unchanged since the 12th century. From here, we're off to Ansbach with its beautiful Rococo castle, and enjoy the local beer at the Ansbacher Hofbrau.

55 km / alternative route: 75 km Day 3: Nuremberg (Bavaria)

Today we ride along the German Castle Road past Wasserburg Castle in Lichtenau. Along the way, stop off at beer gardens in the Windsbach and Abenberg, two small towns with historic town centres. In Roth, check out the Margrave's castle of Ratibor.

You can choose from the countless breweries to stop in as we ride along the Rhine-Main-Danube-Canal to Nuremberg.

Overnight stay in Nuremberg, another medieval city filled with local pubs and restaurants.

70 km / alternative route: 80 km Day 4: Bamberg (Bavaria)

We have a choice today of riding along the Regnitz River or the Main-Danube-Canal. Either way. We finish the day in Bamberg, one of the Beer Capitals of the world. Don't forget to try the smoked beer (Rauchbier) at the famous Schlenkerla pub.

55 km / alternative route: 70 km Day 5: Neustadt an der Aisch (Bavaria)

We start off back along yesterday's route to Hirschaid or you can also shorten this part of the route by taking the train (ticket not included). Along the way, we stop off in Höchstadt and sample the local specialty, fresh mirror carps and a beer, before ending the day in Neustadt.

Overnight stay in Neustadt an der Aisch, a charming small Bavarian town.

60 km Day 6: Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Bavaria)

We ride to Bad Windsheim and visit the beautiful old town, the Franconian Open-Air Museum and enjoy the home-brewed beer.

The last day's ride ends back in Rothenburg, where we celebrate a great trip amid the town's medieval backdrop. Don't forget taking an evening city tour with the night watchman.
