This specially designed guided hybrid & mountain bike tour through Transylvania, Romania offers a wonderful combination of nature, history and culture. It's an ideal tour for those looking for a true adventure and a fascinating step back into European history.
We will enjoy close contact to Romania's people and their customs, offering our guests an authentic Romanian experience.
The tour includes stops in Brasov (in German: Kronstadt) and Sighisoara (in German: Schaessburg), two old medieval towns well preserved over the years, as well to numerous fortified churches.
Throughout the trip, we'll enjoy a natural beauty that surprises around every bend. We also spend one afternoon at a working sheppard camp to learn how the cheese is naturally processed.
Our guides are from Romania and expert in Transylvania's history & culture as well as fluent English speaking gracious guides & hosts.

— Day 1: Braşov (Braşov)
Arrival & Welcome Dinner
Pick up from Bucharest - Otopeni Airport and transfer north to Brasov, for dinner and short orientation tour.
You will have time to stroll on the streets of The Medieval Town of Brasov (Kronstadt in German). Over dinner, the guide will present a briefing of the whole trip, together with a short introduction of Romania.
Overnight in Brasov.
25 km / alternative route: 80 km Day 2: Homorod ()
Tour of Brasov; Ride to Homorod
After breakfast, we'll take a tour of Brasov, admiring the Black Church and visiting The First Romanian School.
After a short transfer by car to the city limits and visit to the medieval fortified church of Harman, we'll begin our day's bike ride towards other old German fortified churches along the Medieval Transylvanian landscape.
Along the way, we'll enjoy a traditional welcoming in one of the villages, including fresh local bread and salt and delicious home made pastries.
In the evening, we can visit another historic old castle by Homorod.
55 km Day 3: Sighişoara (Mureş)
Transylvanian Plateau; Sighisoara (Dracula's birthplace)
Today we'll continue cycling through the historic Transylvanian Plateau, passing by fortified Saxon churches up to Sighisoara - a unique UNESCO Heritage Site, the place where Vlad Dracula was born.
Sighisoara is the best preserved medieval town still inhabited. We'll spend the afternoon & evening time to explore the old town and spend the night here.
55 km Day 4: Mediaş (Sibiu)

In the morning we tour the town of Sighisoara, walking in the town's historic main square, the Covered Stairs and visiting the famous Clock Tower, the Weapons Museum and the Medieval torture chamber (thankfully, it's no longer in use!).
Then we'll take a drive to and visit the church in Biertan (Bierthalm). It is the largest fortified church in Siebenbürgen and the former bishop seat for 300 years.
Today will be a shorter cycling day, passing by 2 fortified Saxon churches while on our way to Medias, where we'll overnight.
In the evening, we'll explore the town of Medias, which has one of the best preserved historical centers in Romania as well as medieval fortifications.
70 km Day 5: Sibiu (Sibiu)
Life in rural Transylvania; Sibiu (Hermannstadt)
Today we'll continue cycling through the Transylvanian Plateau where we'll step back in time and get a true feel for Romanian rural life, to see how people are working the fields, tending to their animals and living off the land.
Our cycling route for today will take us to Sibiu (Hermannstadt), the largest medieval town in Transylvania and a cultural gem. Exploring the town will be a delight for everyone.
Overnight in Sibiu (Hermannstadt).
55 km Day 6: Şaroşu pe Tîrnave ()
Tour of Sibiu (Hermannstadt);
After breakfast, we're off for a city tour of Sibiu. We'll step over the Liar’s bridge, see the Evangelic Cathedral with it’s colorful tiles on the roof and stroll through the Small and Large Square.
We'll transfer by car/minibus towards Fagaras Mountain. Our cycling route will be at the base of the mountain, passing through several villages and enjoying the rural life as we ride to the town of Fagaras, where we'll visit the impressive fortress in town. On a clear day we will have an impressive view over the Fagaras Mountain also called the Transylvanian Alps.
In the evening, we'll visit a working Sheppard camp. There we can learn about the life of the shepards and their interaction with the wildlife - wolves, bears. We will see how the sheep are milked - everyone can try - and cheese is made.
65 km Day 7: Piatra Craiului ()
Königstein Mountain; Barbeque in the Piatra Craiului mountains
Last day of cycling will take us to the foot of Piatra Craiului (König Stein) Mountain, admiring its beauty, an area used as a filming set for the film "Cold Mountain". We have the opportunity to visit a shop that will sell only natural wool and wood products, all locally hand made.
In the afternoon we will have a farewell barbecue surrounded by the stunning Piatra Craiului mountains. We spend the evening around a campfire, listening to stories about Dracula.
— Day 8: Otopeni (Ilfov)
Dracula's castle in Bran; Transfer to airport
After a last breakfast, we'll make our way back to Bucharest for the flight home. On the way, we'll visit the Pearl of The Carpathians: The Royal Peles Palace, famously known as Dracula’s Castle, in Bran. We'll take time to visit and buy souvenirs before we transfer to Otopeni for the flight back. (3-4 hours by our bus)

Hi, sorry about the confusion. This tour includes all meals, including breakfast at the hotel, a lunch we'll enjoy picnic style during the day, and dinner each evening, featuring local cuisine.
